El día de la marmota
El día de la marmota (Groundhog Day) is such a funny tradition! It is only celebrated here in the U.S. but I thought it would be fun to talk about in Spanish!
la sombra = shadow
el invierno = winter
la primavera = spring
(We made little marmotas like this one in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. We also predicted if he would see his shadow or not.)
El sábado, la marmota no vio (did not see) su sombra. Por eso, la primavera llegará temprano (will arrive early). ¡Qué alegría!

Tú vs Usted
In Spanish, there are two ways to call someone “you.”
Tú means “you” if you are talking to someone your own age or younger.
Usted means “you” if you are talking to someone older than you, or people you want to show respect to.
If your friend asks you ¿Cómo estás? you can reply “Muy bien, ¿y tú?” (Very well, and you?).
If your teacher or Mr. Nolan asks you ¿Cómo estás? it is more polite to respond “Muy bien, ¿y Usted? (Very well, and you?)

Respuesta:
Sí, me gusta el frío. O No, no me gusta el frío.
Answer:
Yes, I like the cold. O No, I do not like the cold.
